Export to Google Sheets
You can send any Camphouse export to Google Sheets instead of downloading an Excel file. Camphouse creates a new spreadsheet in your Google Drive, carries the formatting across, and gives you a link to open it as soon as it is ready.
Why use it
No downloading and re-uploading. The export arrives in Drive, ready to work in.
Your formatting comes with it. Headers, colours, alignment and column widths carry over, so the sheet is readable straight away.
Share it right away. The sheet sits in your Drive with a link, ready to share, comment on or link into a plan.
Before you start
Two things have to be in place. Without both of them, the option to export to Google Sheets will not appear when you export.
💡 Google Sheets export is switched on for your organisation. If you are an administrator, go to Settings → Plugins → External Export and switch on Google Sheets. If you are not, and the Google option does not appear when you export, ask an administrator to check this setting.
You have connected a Google account to your own Camphouse user. Everyone does this once for themselves, an administrator cannot do it on someone else's behalf. The Google account has to carry the same email address as your Camphouse account. The steps below take less than a minute.
Connect your Google account
Go to User settings → Authentications and select Add authentication.
Select Google as the provider, then tick Google Sheet Export. This is the only entry you need for exporting. Everything else in the list is an integration for bringing data into Camphouse, so you can leave those unticked unless you are also setting them up as well.
⚠️ Google Sheet Export and Google Sheets are not the same thing. Tick Google Sheet Export to export Camphouse data to a new Google Sheet. Google Sheets, just below it, is an integration: it connects a specific spreadsheet as a data source for Camphouse and is set up under Integrations. If you tick that one instead, the export option will not appear.
Both entries are about integrations, and neither one changes how you import a file yourself. Importing into a plan is a separate feature that accepts CSV and Excel files only. It cannot read a Google Sheet directly.
Select Allow on the Google screen. Google will ask you to confirm one permission: to see, edit, create and delete the specific Drive files you use with Camphouse.
Check that the connection is valid. Your Google account now appears under Valid authentications, with the connected email address. You can export from this point on.
To see what a connection has been authorised for, select Available integrations on it. Google Sheet Export should be listed under Selected. Anything under Available can be ignored unless you are also setting up those integrations to bring data into Camphouse.
Make the export
Once the plugin is switched on and your account is connected, the Google option appears alongside the existing formats wherever you export in Camphouse.
Depending on the view, it is either an item in the export menu or a choice of format in the export window. See How to export your data in Camphouse for every place you can export from.
Open the export. Use the export control for the view you are in, exactly as you do today. Nothing about getting there has changed.
Choose your format. Where a format choice appears, Export to Google Sheets sits alongside Export to Excel and the other formats available in that view.
Wait for it to finish. Your sheet is created first and then filled in, so you will see the progress as it goes.
⚠️ Navigating away from the view during export. If you navigate away, your export will still complete and the spreadsheet will be waiting in your Drive, but the progress will stop updating and the link will not appear in Camphouse, so you would need to find the file in Drive yourself.
Where your export ends up
This is the part that differs from an Excel or CSV export, so it is worth knowing before you start.
Excel, CSV and PDF behave as they always have. The file downloads to your device and appears wherever your browser saves downloads.
Google Sheets does not download anything. Camphouse creates the spreadsheet in your Google Drive instead. When the export finishes you get a confirmation carrying the link, and an Open in Google Sheets button appears in the export window. The sheet is also in your Drive from that moment on, so you can find it there later without the link.
What you get in Google Drive
A new spreadsheet every time. Nothing is added to or overwritten in an existing sheet, and there is no folder picker.
The same name as the Excel download would have had, with one tab for each sheet in the export.
Your formatting: bold text, text and background colours, alignment and column widths.
A private file until you share it, saved in your Drive like any other spreadsheet you create.
Larger exports take longer than an Excel download, because every row is written into Google Sheets as the export runs.
If you cannot see the Google option
The Google option stays hidden until everything is in place. Work through these in order.
Is it switched on for your organisation? An administrator can check Settings → Plugins → External Export → Google Sheets.
Have you connected a Google account? Look in User settings → Authentications. If there is no valid Google authentication, follow the steps above.
Did you tick Google Sheet Export? Select Available integrations on your Google connection. If it is not listed under Selected, add it and authorise again.
Does the email address match? The Google account has to carry the same email address as your Camphouse account, either as its primary address or as an alias. If it carries none of your addresses, connect the account that does.
How your connection is kept secure
Camphouse can only connect to a Google account that carries your Camphouse email address. Every time you export, Camphouse checks your Camphouse email address against the addresses on the connected Google account, and the export only runs when one of them matches. A Google account carrying none of your addresses cannot be used to export Camphouse data.
Email aliases count. Many Google accounts carry more than one address, often because a company changed domain. Camphouse checks against all of them, so if the address you use in Camphouse is an alias on your Google account, it will match even when it is not the account's primary address.
The permission Camphouse asks for is deliberately narrow. It can see, edit and create only the files it makes itself, so nothing else in your Google Drive is visible to Camphouse.
