Set up Flighting & Activation for your media types

Flighting and Activation let you spread a media entry's budget over time and break it down into more granular sub-entries, like placements or ad sets. Setting this up is two stops for an admin:

  1. Media Types & Fields – make sure the fields you want to use exist (a number or money field with the right Total is setting, or a calculation field with the right condition set).

  2. Activation, in Settings – configure flighting and the activation hierarchy. These are two panels on this one page: Flighting set-up and Structure.

💡 The Activation plugin must be enabled for your organisation before these settings appear. If you do not see them, ask your admin or your Camphouse Customer Success Manager (CSM) to enable it.

1. Set up the fields

Go to Settings and select Media Types & Fields, then choose the media type you want to configure.

  • Number and Money fields in your media type set-up can be flighted.

  • The field's Total is setting must be set to Sum. This applies to number, money, and calculation fields. If it isn't set to Sum, the field won't show up as an option when you set up flighting. If a field already added to flighting is later changed away from Sum, it disappears from the Flighting view automatically.

  • A calculation field can be flighted only if it first has a Calculation Condition of "IF Entity type = Media Entry THEN calculate". This makes the field calculate only in the Sheet View, after which it can be selected as a flighted measure. See the Calculations article.

  • Any activation fields must first be created in Media Types & Fields. They do not have to sit in a media type set-up, but they must exist so they can be used in the activation set-up below.

2. Flighting set-up

Go to Settings and select Activation. In the Flighting panel, choose the measures you want to flight and set a default flighting schedule. Only number, money, and eligible calculation fields appear here, see the field requirements above. The default schedule shows in plans, and a user can pick a different one there.

3. Activation hierarchy

Still on the Settings > Activation page, the Structure panel is where you build the activation hierarchy. The first level always maps to the Media Entry, the level where Sheet View data is entered. Set a Level Name, the Planning Fields (defaulted from Media Types & Fields), and a Header Field that makes each row unique.

Lower levels are set up the same way, and also take Entry Categorization (the tag categories for that level) and Additional Fields (text fields, text templates, and dates), plus their own Header Field.

First level, mapped to the Media Entry (anonymised client screenshot, replace with a generic version before publishing).

Constraints. There is one activation hierarchy per organisation, and all levels set up must be used, so all data includes all levels.
