What are Media Vehicles?
Media Vehicles are typically referred to as marketing platforms or vendors; for example, BBC, ELLE Magazine, Radio 1, Facebook, etc.
Media vehicles function as tags, as they are configured specifically to each media type, and are displayed as a drop-down in the sheet view. Media Vehicles can be used to filter and create reports on associated data.

Naming rules and how vehicles are shared across subsidiaries
Each vehicle name must be unique within its media type, but the scope of that uniqueness depends on where you create the vehicle.
Created at the parent organization (top level): the name must be unique across the parent organization and all of its subsidiaries for that media type. If any subsidiary already has a vehicle with that name in that media type, creation will fail. A vehicle created here becomes available to every subsidiary, which will see it in a separate, read-only section of their Media Vehicles settings labeled Parent organization's vehicles.
Created inside a subsidiary: the name only needs to be unique within that subsidiary and the parent organization for that media type. It does not need to be unique against sibling subsidiaries, so two sibling subsidiaries can each have their own vehicle called, for example, "ABC Radio" under the same media type without conflict. A vehicle created this way stays local to that subsidiary: it is not visible to the parent organization or to sibling subsidiaries, and it cannot be used to set up shared media inventory.
The same vehicle name can be reused across different media types. For example, "ABC" can exist as a vehicle under both Radio and Newspaper in the same organization, and that is not treated as a duplicate.
💡 If you want a vehicle to be usable everywhere and to support shared media inventory, create it at the parent organization. If it truly belongs to just one subsidiary, create it there instead, and be aware it won't be visible to the parent or to sibling subsidiaries.
How names are matched
Matching is not case-sensitive, so "ABC Radio" and "abc radio" are treated as the same name. Leading and trailing spaces are also ignored when checking for duplicates, and are trimmed from the name once it's saved.
If a name already exists
If a name conflicts with the rules above, creation is blocked and you'll see a message like this:
Vehicle ABC Radio already exists
When you add vehicles in bulk through the Add vehicles dialog, any names that already exist in your currently loaded list are skipped automatically rather than raising an error for each one. If every name you entered turns out to be a duplicate, you'll see:
No vehicles created, possibly due to duplicate names
