About the Trade Desk Integration
The Trade Desk integration brings your programmatic campaign data directly into Camphouse, alongside your other media platforms.
Unlike most of our integrations, The Trade Desk requires a small amount of setup on your side before the connection can be made in Camphouse. This is because The Trade Desk does not offer a standard "click-to-connect" login flow. Instead, authentication is handled via an API token that must be generated manually within your Trade Desk account.
This article walks you through what's needed and how to get connected.
Setup at a Glance
Here's the full process from start to finish:
Enable Public API access on a Trade Desk user. Ask your Trade Desk account manager to turn on the
PublicAPI_General_Viewscope (or higher) for the user whose credentials you'll use.Generate a long-lived API token from that user's profile in The Trade Desk. Short-lived tokens expire every 24 hours and won't keep your connection running.
Locate your Advertiser ID in your Trade Desk account settings, or ask your account manager.
Send your credentials securely to your Camphouse Customer Success Manager via a password manager share link, encrypted file, or similar. Do not send via email or chat.
Your CSM configures the connection in Camphouse. You then finish the standard integration setup (start date, measures, splits) the same way you would for any other platform.
Each step is detailed in the sections below. β¬οΈ
What You'll Need Before Getting Started
To connect The Trade Desk, you'll need three things from your Trade Desk account:
Public API access enabled on a Trade Desk user
A long-lived API token generated from that user
Your Advertiser ID (or Partner ID, depending on the reporting level you want)
The first two items typically require help from someone on your team with access to The Trade Desk Partner Portal. This is often a developer, ad operations specialist, or your Trade Desk account manager.
π‘ If you're not sure who manages your Trade Desk account internally, your Trade Desk representative can point you to the right person.
Sharing Your Credentials Securely
Your API token grants access to your Trade Desk data and should be treated like a password.
When sharing your token and Advertiser ID with Camphouse, please use a secure method of your choice, for example a password manager share link (such as 1Password, Bitwarden, or LastPass), an encrypted file, or another secure transfer tool used by your organization.
β οΈ Do not send your API token via email, support chat, or any other unencrypted channel. If credentials are sent to us insecurely, we will ask you to rotate the token and resend it through a secure method before proceeding.
Step 1: Enable Public API Access
Public API access is a permission that must be turned on by The Trade Desk for the user whose credentials will be used to generate the token. Without it, the token will not have the permissions needed to send data to Camphouse, even if the login details are correct.
To enable it:
Contact your Trade Desk account manager and request that Public API access be enabled for the user you'll be using for the integration. Ask specifically for the PublicAPI_General_View scope at minimum.
This is a one-time setup step on the Trade Desk side.
Step 2: Generate a Long-Lived API Token
Once Public API access is enabled, you can generate the token that Camphouse will use to authenticate.
Log in to The Trade Desk platform using the user account with API access.
Click your user profile menu in the top-right corner.
Select Manage API Tokens.
Choose to create a Long-Lived Token. Short-lived tokens expire every 24 hours and won't keep your Camphouse connection running.
Copy the token and store it somewhere secure. You won't be able to view it again after closing the dialog.
Step 3: Locate Your Advertiser ID
You'll also need the Advertiser ID for the account whose data you want to bring into Camphouse. You can find this in your Trade Desk account settings, or by asking your Trade Desk account manager.
Step 4: Share Your Credentials with Camphouse
Once you have your API token and Advertiser ID, contact your Customer Success Manager to let them know you're ready to set up the connection.
Share your token and Advertiser ID using a secure method of your choice (see Sharing Your Credentials Securely above). Your CSM will confirm receipt and let you know once the connection has been configured.
Step 5: Connection Setup in Camphouse
Once your credentials have been received, the connection will be configured in Camphouse. You'll then be able to complete the standard integration setup, selecting your start date, measures, and splits as described in our Integrations β Instructions and Best Practices article.
A green checkmark will appear in your Integrations page once data has been successfully fetched.
Troubleshooting
"Authentication failed" or "Invalid credentials"
Most often, this means Public API access has not been enabled on the user. Contact your Trade Desk account manager to confirm.Token stops working unexpectedly
Check that you generated a long-lived token, not a short-lived one. Short-lived tokens expire after 24 hours.Advertiser data not appearing
Confirm that the user whose token you're using has access to the Advertiser ID you've entered in Camphouse.
