What are Media Types?
Media Types are the highest level of segmentation in your media plans, typically representing marketing channels such as Paid Social, SEM, TV, Radio, Online Display, or OOH. You decide how broad or specific they should be, and the exact number is up to you.
Each Media Type is hosted in the Sheet View as its own tab. The Sheet View works like a spreadsheet, and it’s where all planning data is entered. When you configure a Media Type, you’re shaping what that tab’s Sheet View will look like (its fields, columns, and structure) and what data it should capture.

⚠️ Since media types are the broadest/highest level of data segmentation they are controlled on your parent account in the organization settings, not in the sheet view itself. All setting changes will affect the configuration of all media plans within an organization. This creates a standard way of working for each media type and protects the integrity of your data.
Add a New Media Type
To create a new media type, you must proceed with the following steps:
Access Settings: Enter Settings in the left-hand menu of your parent account and then select Media Types & Fields.
Create a New Media type: Click on the Add New Media Type button in the upper-right corner, and then select either Planning (it'll create a tab in the 'Sheet view') or Results (it'll create a tab in 'Results') Media Type.
Set Up a New Media Type: Assign the Media Type with a name and a color, and save changes.
Copy or delete a Media Type
Navigate to Media Types & Fields: Enter Settings in the left-hand menu of your parent account and then select Media Types & Fields.
Select the Desired Media Type: Click on the drop-down list and select the media type you want to copy or delete.
Access Media Type Settings: Click on the gear/settings symbol located next to the selected media type name to open the settings menu for the media type.
Copy or Delete the Media Type: In the settings menu, you will have the options to either copy or delete the media type.
⚠️ Planning data should always be entered into the sheet view at the third level - Plan Level.
Performance data related to active or completed campaigns are separated and housed in the Results section, either through manual input or automatic capture via integrations.
Add Media Fields to the Media Type
A Media Type sheet view is built from three elements: Media Fields, Tags and Media Vehicles. In this article, we’ll focus on how fields are added to the sheet view. If you want to know more about each component please refer to these articles:
Option 1: Drag and drop a media field from the library of fields on the right
Option 2: Click on sign next to the field's name.
The field order can be adjusted by clicking, dragging, and dropping the fields to the desired position.
💡Always remember to hit the green Save button at the top whenever you update a media type, before navigating to a new page. Otherwise, your changes will be lost.
Remove Media Fields from the Media Type
If you want to remove the media field (not delete it) from the media type, follow these steps:
Access Settings: Enter Settings in the left-hand menu of your parent account and then select Media Types & Fields.
Select a Media Type: From the drop-down list, select the media type you want to modify.
Select a Media Field: Select a Media Field you want to remove from this specific Media Type.
Remove the Media Field: At the bottom right corner you'll find a button "Remove field from media type". It won't delete the field completely, it'll just remove the field from the selected media type.
