What are Media Fields?

Media Fields are headers of the columns in the Sheet view. On the screenshot Market, Country, Media Vehicle, Start and End Date, etc. - are all media fields.

To see the list of all existing Media Fields within an organization, follow these steps:

  1. Navigate to Media Types & Fields: Enter Settings in the left-hand menu of your parent account and then select Media Types & Fields.

  2. Select Any Media Type: Click on the drop-down list and select any media type.

  3. Access Library of Fields: On the right you'll find a Library of fields - all the fields that exist on your accounts.

πŸ’‘ You can filter the available options by typing the name of the field in the upper right-hand corner or scrolling through the list.

Types of Media Fields

All fields are labeled with an icon representing the field type:

  • Text – Free text field. You also have the option to configure a text field as a template field. Read more about this option in our article on template fields.

  • Date – Date field - note that the date format (MM/DD/YYYY) will be set in your personal settings

  • Number – General number or percentage. Choose whether to have the field summarize itself in columns and reports as a sum total or none. Choose the number of decimal places.

  • Calculation – An auto-populated field based on the formula added in the settings.

    • A Calculation field can only be based on number fields.

    • You cannot manually enter data in this field within the sheet view, as it is locked. However, you can enable 'Calculate on Condition', allowing it to calculate in some situations but not in others.

    • All of the component fields required for the calculation must be present in the same media type for the calculation to function.

    • Enter the calculation formula by tagging the @name of each field and using general calculation signs (/,-,+,*) and brackets.

    • Choose the number of decimal places.

    • You can also configure a conditional calculation.

  • Tags - Tags are media fields whose inputs are limited to a restricted list. Read more about tags here.

  • Generated Field – Automatically creates unique codes with a specific set of digits, making it easier to, for example, match results to planned entries.

  • File Fields – A file field lets planners upload new files or select from a predefined list directly within each row of the planning sheet view. You can customize each field to control which types of files are allowed, ensuring that uploads stay relevant and organized.

  • Required: the user will not be able to save their changes in the Sheet view until a value is input.

  • Does not affect plan status: if the user is trying to make changes to this field in the approved plan, it won't send the plan back to "working" status.

  • Disabled by condition: if checked, the field will be disabled (locked) according to a condition(s).

  • Delivery Plan: checking the 'Appears in Delivery plan' box will have this field/ column appear in the delivery plan section of your Media Overview.

  • Default hidden: the field will be hidden from the sheet view by default. The field can be unhidden manually.

  • Custom field color: Choose the color in which the column header should be displayed in the Sheet view. You can group fields by assigning them a specific color to make navigation easier for planners.
